ETH Celebrates 10th Anniversary
It’s been over a decade since Vitalik Buterin, with his fellow co-founders, launched the Ethereum blockchain on July 30, 2025. Being the first blockchain ever to debut after Bitcoin, and introducing innovative possibilities for the web3 world, the Ethereum network is revered and respected by the entire crypto community. After all, it is the Ethereum network that introduced smart contracts, which transcended blockchain innovation.
Since then, the crypto market has come a long way. To highlight, ETH’s other co-founder left the project to launch their own promising projects, including Cardano and Polkadot. Meanwhile, Etehruem continues to push its innovative expedition. Soon, it introduced DeFi options, NFT minting, blockchain gaming, and so much more. Ultimately, Etehreum helped shape the crypto industry we know today, following Bitcoin’s lead.
While Bitcoin was more of a philosophy and a new decentralized system to challenge the financial world as we know it, Ethereum allowed developers, creators, and innovators to work on improving other sectors using blockchain technology through the web3 sector. Vitalik Buterin Addresses the ETH Community
As we can see from the video in the post above, on the occasion of Ethereum’s 10th anniversary, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin shared his hopes and excitement for the next decade during the anniversary livestream. He recalled that the original thought was to create an open space for global developers—one where anyone could freely build applications and express their creativity.
Additionally, he stated that Ethereum’s core mission is to continue advancing human progress and safeguarding people’s digital autonomy, which requires the network to remain online and never go down. Over the past decade, Ethereum has withstood numerous challenges, undergoing 16 major upgrades and processing billions of transactions—all without a single moment of downtime.
